THE STORY BEHIND UNIQUE ME

Claudia and Michelle first met years ago when their daughters received therapy services together.Over the years they would see each other now and then. However, they stayed in touch to share information. When Claudia and John decided to open Blossoms Developmental Therapy Associates, Claudia and Michelle’s lives crossed paths again. However, this time was different than before. They were both actively pursuing the same path of making a difference in the special needs community. As they spent time catching up, their friendship further blossomed and they both realized that together they would definitely change things. When they spoke or spent time together the ideas just flowed. One of their many ideas was to provide a publication that would provide families in South Florida with information pertaining to their child with “unique” needs. They wanted to make sure the magazine would benefit families that had a child with a mild learning disability all the way to a child that was wheelchair bound.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND UNIQUE ME

Claudia Uribe-Orrett is the mother of twins, Chloe and Samantha, and is married to John Orrett. Claudia and John are the Founders and Owners of Cherry Blossom Learning Center and Blossoms Developmental Therapy Associates. Blossoms Developmental Therapy Associates was opened by Claudia and John and was inspired by their daughter Chloe. Chloe was born at 27 weeks, weighed barely two pounds and was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 6 months old. Doctors believed Chloe maybe able to walk “someday“ but together with some great therapists trying a “unique“ approach to therapy Chloe walked completely unassisted at the age of 5. Claudia and John incorporated this unique approach to therapy at Blossoms.

Michelle Coffey-Garcia is the mother of two boys, Taylor and Zachary, and shares the title of “princess” with her daughter, Samantha. She has been married to her best friend and business partner, Jose “Manny” Garcia, for 12 years. Michelle and Manny are the owners of Just Big Stuff Nursery and are the proud Co-Founders of Samantha’s Purpose. Samantha’s Purpose is a 501(c)(3) charity that was inspired by their daughter, Samantha. Samantha was born at 28 weeks and weighed 2 lbs., 2 ounces. Due to her prematurity, Samantha suffered a brain injury, which resulted in her being diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at 18 months old. They saw the need in the community for an organization that would financially assist families of children with Special Needs with the cost of therapy, equipment and other programs. Through Samantha’s Purpose, they look forward to making a tremendous difference in the Special Needs community, with the assistance of their outstanding circle of friends.
